Although more than half of the U.S. population lives within five miles of their workplace, lack of knowledge and incentive has deterred many from commuting by bike. Denver, Colo. reported in 2008 that over 10,352 people tried biking to work for the first time during a city-sponsored event. A study published by the San Diego Association of Governments showed that one out of five people who participated in their Bike to Work Day promotion as first-time commuters became regular bike commuters.
Ntional Bike Month: National Bike Month is an opportunity to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle and the many reasons we ride. Whether you bike to work or school; to save money or time; to preserve your health or the environment; to explore your community or get to your destination, get involved in Bike Month in your city or state — and help get more people in your community out riding too!

So you have finally realized how big of an investment a wedding is and that too much can easily go wrong. You have thought it over and decided that wedding insurance may be a good idea. Now your problem is figuring out the right wedding insurance and when to buy it. Fortunately, I believe wedding insurance is one of the easier insurance policies to understand and hopefully this will help you understand what decision to make.
Choosing the right wedding insurance
A number of factors can go into what wedding insurance policy is right for you. A good way to decide on what coverages you need is simply ask your caterer or vendor what insurance coverages they have, like liability insurance. There is no sense double covering something that does not necessarily need it.
Another one is trying to match the price with how much you are covering. If you really want a small wedding with only a few people and you know before you start planning the wedding that it will cost a few thousand dollars, then don't purchase ...

Cinco De Mayo is a fun holiday celebrated by many bird owners, but it can be far too easy to let your pet's safety go by the wayside when planning your fun Cinco De Mayo events. Check out this list of Cinco De Mayo safety hazards to birds for some help with making sure your bird stays safe during your Cinco De Mayo celebration this year and in years to come!
Toxic Foods
Most Cinco De Mayo celebrations involve eating! This can pose a problem to birds and their owners, however, because many "human" foods can be toxic to our feathered friends, including dishes like candy and guacamole. Do your pet bird a favor and make sure that any poisonous foods are contained away from his/her cage and general area. Failure to do so could spell disaster for your pet!
Alcoholic Beverages
Beer and other alcoholic beverages can mean big trouble for pet birds. Many mixed drinks are brightly colored and can look very attractive to parrots, and drinks left unattended by guests can pose a great risk to a curious bird. To preven ...

Your body has to work to maintain a healthy body temperature. This is especially true during the summer months when the temperature can reach record levels.
What is heat exhaustion?
Heat exhaustion is a heat-related illness that can happen when your body is dehydrated and you’ve been exposed to high temperatures for a long period of time. Those at highest risk for heat exhaustion are older adults, people with high blood pressure and people working or exercising when it is hot out.
Signs of heat exhaustion include:

    Heavy sweating
    Feeling weak and/or confused
    Dizziness
    Nausea
    Headache
    Fast heartbeat

If you think you have heat exhaustion:

Get out of the heat quickly. Rest in an air-conditioned building. If you can't get inside, find a cool, shady place.
Drink plenty of water or other fluids. Do NOT drink alcohol or caffeinated drinks.
Take a cool shower or bath, or put cool water on your skin.

The first Arbor Day took place on April 10, 1872 in Nebraska. It was the brainchild of Julius Sterling Morton (1832-1902), a Nebraska journalist and politician originally from Michigan. Throughout his long and productive career, Morton worked to improve agricultural techniques in his adopted state and throughout the United States when he served as President Grover Cleveland's Secretary of Agriculture. But his most important legacy is Arbor Day.
Morton felt that Nebraska's landscape and economy would benefit from the wide-scale planting of trees. He set an example himself planting orchards, shade trees and wind breaks on his own farm and he urged his neighbors to follow suit. Morton's real opportunity, though, arrived when he became a member of Nebraska's state board of agriculture. He proposed that a special day be set aside dedicated to tree planting and increasing awareness of the importance of trees. Nebraska's first Arbor Day was an amazing success. More than one million tr ...

Quick Tips:

First and foremost: slow down! It takes longer to stop or adjust in wet weather.
Stay toward the middle lanes - water tends to pool in the outside lanes.
Maintain proper following distance (3 Second Rule). This needs to be increased in wet weather.
Drive in the tracks of a car ahead of you.
Don't follow large trucks or buses too closely. The spray created by their large tires reduces your vision. Take care when passing them as well; if you must pass, do so quickly and safely.
Be more alert when driving in wet or slippery conditions. Watch out for brake lights in front of you.
Avoid using your brakes; if possible, take your foot off the accelerator to slow down.
Turn your headlights on even in a light rain, or in gloomy, foggy or overcast conditions. Not only do they help you see the road, but they'll help other drivers see you. If your car has daytime running lights you still should put them on, so vehicles behind you can see you better.
